I’m a full time artist and art tutor living in Greystones, County Wicklow, Ireland with my husband Michael. With the Irish Sea and Wicklow mountains on our doorstep we are surrounded by an area of stunning natural beauty. My morning runs on the beach or on a forest trail inspire my work, and bring the energy of colour, light, wind and weather to my paintings.
I draw my best inspiration from the remote and rugged Irish coastline, a subject that has held my attention for many years, and where I feel most fully alive. The raw energy of this wild landscape of ocean, stone, sky and shore is what I most seek to express in my art.
My preferred medium is oil paint applied with a palette knife which allows for loose handling and free, gestural marks. The knifework connects me to my subject, whether conveying the fluidity of moving water or the chiselled strength of a rugged rock face. The act of painting becomes an immersion in the energy and flow of the natural environment.
My studio in the Wicklow countryside is a haven of peace, space and the company of fellow artists.
I take particular pleasure in sharing the creative journey through the workshops and classes I teach in Ireland and abroad.
