About

I draw my best inspiration from the remote and rugged Irish Atlantic coastline, a subject that has held my attention for many years, and where I feel most fully alive.  The raw energy of this wild landscape of ocean and stone is what I most seek to express in my art.

My preferred medium is oil paint applied with a palette knife which allows for loose handling and free, gestural marks. The knifework connects me to my subject, whether conveying the fluidity of moving water or the chiselled strength of a rugged rock face. The act of painting becomes an immersion in the energy and flow of the natural environment.

I take particular pleasure in sharing the creative journey with my students and fellow artists  through the workshops and classes that I teach in Ireland and overseas.
